GVAC Management Committee

Announcement/Clarification

For the avoidance of any confusion, we can confirm that our Environment officer has written to the Club confirming that our Maypole Farm Lake may be fished all year round. We do however, want to point out that Working Party activities will be taking place on certain Thursdays in the near future as we look to maintain the pegs and access. Tight Lines everyone, please continue to send catch reports.

Please take a look at our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Day tickets and Membership Forms are available from the following: Birds tackle, Breakaway tackle, Gladwell's Stowmarket and Copdock Mill.

Update

GVAC are pleased to welcome you to this website. The year 2022 will mark the club's 38th since it was founded in 1984.

This front page is brought to you as the Club reaches another milestone in its long distinguished history.

On 31st October 2021, attendees  voted overwhelmingly to elect a new management team comprising three former Chairmen. The names of the committee can be found on this website. The goals of the Management Committee are: assess, stabilize, then communicate the future proposed direction to its members. We are excited  by the challenges ahead and plan to hold an EGM in early 2022.

The Club's management remain committed to the heritage that has brought it success - the Club shall provide angling to anyone regardless of race, gender, age or ability; it seeks to develop the sport through provision of safe and affordable fishing experiences. In its inaugural committee meeting, the management committee decided that its values were: Integrity, respect, honesty and openness with one another and its members, challenge, and teamwork; we believe that these values will take GVAC forward and that the members voted for the return of these qualities at the AGM.

This channel is open and we welcome feedback. The Management Committee will not however, tolerate aggression, bullying or malicious activities which it considers are disreputable to the name of this great club.

The club operates a Constitution approved by the Angling Trust 'FishMark' (formerly ClubMark), a Child Protection Policy and an Equity Policy.

As at 25 November 2021, the elected Management Committee have held two meetings to develop a future strategy. It recognises that there are many challenges, brought about by many factors affecting the club; the prime objective is short-term is stability. The members learned of a significant reduction in the club's income generation and spending that exceeded income, over the past two years, at the AGM - we are still assessing the current situation as the handover from the previous management committee is ongoing.

The Management Committee understands that the members require accessible, maintained venues with the standard of fishing expected of a strong club to go with the aforementioned values. We plan to hold competitions as before in 2022. Our angling development plans are still in gestation too. We also recognise the socio-economic changes affecting the sport and the need for long-term planning, which involves future succession to enable it to thrive for another 30+years'.

We think that the club will bounce back in 2022 and you can be assured that decisions made by the committee will be debated and voted in line with the constitution.

We welcome every member and look forward to meeting you on the bank!

PS: the temporary ban on meat on GVAC waters has been overturned. GVAC's fish love a bit of Spam :-)
